Garage Door Safety Inspection
Your toddler has discovered the wall button. You want to know, from someone who checks these things for a living, that the door will stop and reverse if a small person is under it.
Garage Door Safety Inspection
A creased bottom panel is a common sight in Hamilton, and it rarely means a whole new door. We check the struts, hinges and track alignment, replace the damaged section when a match is available, and reinforce the panel so the door lifts straight and looks whole again from the street.
Hamilton, Ontario
2021 census · what it means at the door
61%Older homes
About 61% of homes in Hamilton were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.
Older garages are frequently used as workshops or storage as much as parking, which means the door opens many times a day and collects dust on the sensors. Sealed rollers, protected photo-eyes and a tune-up schedule suit that pattern well.
56%
Single-detached houses make up about 56% of homes in Hamilton (2021 Census).
Where housing is mixed, the doors are mixed as well: wide insulated doubles, narrow singles in rows and the occasional rolling door on a small commercial unit at the corner. Spring type, cable length and opener strength are matched to each door individually.

Garage Door Track Repair or ReplacementThe horizontal rail toward the back of the garage sags noticeably.
Garage Door Cable ReplacementThe car bumper kissed the door on the way in.
Belt-Drive Opener RepairHalfway up, every single time, the door hesitates and there is a ratcheting sound from the motor head, then it carries on.
Garage Door Remote and Keypad ProgrammingThe new car has three buttons in the mirror for garage doors.
Carriage-House Garage Door InstallationCold air is noticeable around the current door, especially near the floor and section joints.

High-Lift Garage Door ConversionStorage racks were planned near the ceiling, but the existing tracks and centre-mounted opener divide the only practical zone.Springs
Winding a torsion spring is not a job for a ladder and a screwdriver. It takes proper bars, a secured door and a technician who knows how many turns the door wants.
Openers
Access is about convenience and control: who can open the door, from where, and how you know it closed. We set up remotes, keypads and smart controllers so the whole family is covered.

Our commercial customers in Hamilton run shops, warehouses and service bays that depend on their doors. We set up maintenance visits at intervals that suit the door's cycle count, keep records of the springs and operators on each door, and turn up with the right parts so downtime stays short.

An opener is only half of the machine. The other half is the door: springs balanced so the door weighs almost nothing in your hand, rollers turning in a straight track, hinges holding the panels square.
1 of 3
One call sets the visit. We ask for the door type, the opener if you know it, and whether the door is currently stuck open or shut.
2 of 3
Every visit opens with a full check: balance, spring condition, cable wear, roller state, track alignment and sensor response.

We lay out the options in plain terms, do what you choose with the right tools, and run the door until we are satisfied it is right.
They are the two small sensors low on each side of the opening, one sending a beam and the other receiving it. The technician confirms both indicator lights hold steady, that the units sit at the height the opener maker specifies, and that the lenses are clean and the wiring secure. Then a close cycle is started and something is passed through the beam; the door should reverse. Misalignment or a grimy lens is corrected on the spot.
Yes, and in winter it is one of the most common causes. Meltwater under the bottom seal refreezes overnight and bonds the door to the slab. The opener pulls, the door stays put, the cables go slack and unwind off their drums, and when the ice lets go the door lurches up unevenly. Freeing the seal by hand before using the opener on icy mornings prevents almost all of these calls.
A little, though it is not the main reason to do it. A fresh bottom seal cushions the door's contact with the floor, and snug side and top seals stop the panel rattling against loose or worn stops. Most of the noise people notice from a garage door comes from rollers, hinges and the opener chain or belt rather than the seals, so a technician checking the weatherstrip will usually point out those parts too if they are the louder culprit.
The flag bracket is the L-shaped angle at the top of each vertical track. It ties the vertical run, the curve and the horizontal track together, and on a torsion-spring door it also carries the end bearing plate for the spring shaft. Because so much meets there, a loose or bent flag bracket throws the whole path off. The technician unloads the springs before moving it and squares it carefully when it goes back.
It is better to leave the door where it is and use another way in and out. Running the opener against a crooked or cable-slack door tends to tangle the cable further, twist the top section and knock the door out of its track, which adds to the repair. Pull nothing and adjust nothing; simply keep the opening clear and let the technician take it from there.
